Our Story
The Event Greening Forum (EGF) is a registered non-profit organisation that promotes sustainable event management (also known as ‘event greening’). At its core, sustainability embraces the triple bottom line of people, planet and prosperity — balancing social, environmental and economic considerations to create events that have a positive impact.
Our Green Supplier Database lists South African companies that provide venues, services or products for business events, and which are pursuing greener practices, whereby ‘green’ indicates:
- The venue, product or service has sustainable attributes that promote environmental responsibility and/or social good; and/or
- The company is actively taking steps to make its own operations more sustainable.
PURPOSE OF THE DATABASE
The Green Supplier Database aims to encourage companies to choose more environmentally and socially responsible options when planning and hosting events.
As sustainability in the South African events industry continues to grow, we’re taking an inclusive approach — welcoming a wide range of green listings to help build momentum and awareness. Over time, the Event Greening Forum (EGF) will introduce more defined criteria to strengthen credibility and help prevent greenwashing.
